My first professional opportunities out of college were internships across a handful of collegiate athletics departments across the Volunteer State (University of Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University, and Christian Brothers University). As a member of the internal media relations department, copy was not my primary responsibility, but still played a heavy role.

Whether it was writing game stories, press releases, or spotlight features, I always relished the opportunity to tell compelling narratives related to our teams and athletes to boost their profile and the larger brand as a whole. These positions also allowed me to grow my chops as a social media producer and improve our brand reach in that arena. At Christian Brothers specifically, I was a part of an in-house team that overhauled our social media approach from covering all 15 sports (men’s and women’s) under one central account to giving each sport their own identity, allowing for exponential growth and an individualized brand identity that was a better representation of the teams and athletes.
